So, I got most of Kajira's site up and running, at least what I consider Phase One (make it over in my own format so I can get all the content properly organized). It still doesn't capture what I believe to be her essence, but it works well enough for the time being (and the budget), and once it's all up, then I can mess around with it more.

I think it looks fabulous! I think it will be hard to capture the essence of someone who is so "freeform" with a website that looks "professional". I think you've done a great job.

It may be because you posted it and the servers are loaded, but the load time was really slow.

Great work, as always, Tempest. You really inspire me every time.

is it still slow? Is it the splash or the other pages too? After the first page/section, everything should already be loaded into your browser, so it should load quickly, but there's a damn lot of info on there too . :P

lol, what is this? every time I work on a site, there's a wave of people that go "time to re-do mine!" --that's really weirdly cool, like a wave of inspiration or something.

Love the site, know exactly what you mean about Kajira's free-spirited essence!

Robin and I call her "the queen of lime green" so maybe you could stick some of that in there? ;)

There's a section that has lime green for the background, but I'm definitely working on adding more. I think the problem is that she has SOOO much text that there's no easy way to be freeform and accomodate the text at the same time in a readable manner.

that's true, her site is happily text-loaded. I do like that about her! (My site is text heavy, too. I have a bias towards words, as you've probably noticed, what with my horribly long tomes in your LJ comments today...)
