owlkeymeDennis (the non-Scotch'd child...we're pretty sure that all of Denny's issues stem from his chaotic younger days, though perhaps mom was on a coffee kick when he was in utero..)....he always calls me up like a good brother to see how life is.
Dennis has had two major loves in life (besides wife/child, etc), soccer and hockey. Soccer was really just something to do in non-hockey season I think. He's got jerseys by more teams than I can name, including home, away, and special event ones. He's even got one with "Zakroff" in Russian on the back. The Flyers would (and probably still) call him up to take out the new guys from Hershey around town. He's managed minor league teams, and still tends goal and does reffing. So really, calling him a huge hockey nut doesn't cut it.
Well, anyway, someone got this poster of the 1980 Olympic hockey team framed at work. I've been staring at it, trying to remember who I'm supposed to know (cause I was 2 at the time, right?) so I mention it to him on the phone. He tells me, I've already got one! Actually signed by everyone! framed! ebay! (good lord, he's found ebay, the world will now end. good nite!) And it doesn't end there...he's got several of them, and he went to go see "Miracle" on opening night, which confirms my suspicion that that was what that movie was about. --you see, we don't watch TV, and nobody has reviewed the movie it seems in the papers we normally read...so I had no idea.
He's so damn cute. :) Not the smartest cookie in the whole world (due to many years of soccer and puck-induced head trauma), but he's really a good good person. I look up to him for that, I really do. I didn't quite understand him as a kid, and was more enamored with Steve, who seemed to have it all together. The reality, mixed with time, tells a whole other story.
