So....

I've been pondering on and off this list of things that I miss ("Missing & Memory"), and it covers people, places, and things (more like food...)...but I think what I missed most this holiday season was having all of the "witches" coming over for Yule/whatever at our place. I think it goes for both of us to say we miss being the half-way house for a bunch of really cool, down-to-earth friends. Even if you pissed us off, we miss that.

No offense intended to our California people, but Pat at the new studio space really summed it up well: "East coast people are more real, you don't have to guess what they're thinking, and they mean what they say. You always know where you stand with them." I think I'm going to like Pat a lot.

And I'm on the look-out for a part-time "real job." And I don't mean reading. I'll still do reading at the SJ Bookshop and soon at the new studio space in San Jose. I think the major issue with reading, is that the only people you really encounter are either other employees/contracted folks, and your clients. And I learned the hard way a while back you can't really do the full-friend thing with clients, and I don't mean this as an offense to any of my clients, some of which are really wonderful and interesting people. I care about them a great deal, but it's always better to be friends first---it alters the whole client-reader relationship. I really can't explain it too well. Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] _gnat or [livejournal.com profile] annwynri could. Anyway, back to the real job....obviously for steady financial reasons, despite having several design projects to work on, I'd like to achieve a per-day or per-week average with less stress about getting it right now...and there's the possibility of meeting new people. We need more primary and secondary circles of people who live close to us, not 45 minutes or more away.

Mark just called. Mark lives up in the Tenderloin. For those of you unfamiliar with SF...the Tenderloin district is....well, you don't want to hang around there after dark, and even during the day it's pretty damn sketchy...so despite how cool his space is, we don't want to particularly go there, so we need to find another spot to converge. As I said to Keith yesterday, the really cool thing about Mark is no matter what state he's in, Mark is always interesting.

So, yeah, that's about the last few days. So, in short, my new year's resolutions, are not really resolutions, but more like things on a check list, in no particular order:
-get contacts
-get more affordable health insurance (hopefully via job and tell Kaiser Personal Advantage to go frig themselves)
-make X amount a money steadily a week
-move out of the Shire by Spring (?) into our own place with a couch, a nexus
-make new friends
-sell the frigging RV
-make more belly dance practice time

So, here we go!

Good luck

Good luck in achieving all your goals - I myself am eager to make a lot of changes in my life as well.

Best wishes!
