and today would be?
Jan. 20th, 2004 09:40 pmSo yesterday was my first day of work...it was pretty sweet. With the exception of ruining someone's art or wasting materials, it's pretty low-stress (well, compared to reading, which is actually pretty high anxiety for me every time--bet that surprises a slew of you, but I also think that's what keeps my readings more real and down to earth, no pre-conceived notions, unless something weird happened in a dream...)...and it's a pretty small operation. Flexible hours, nice people, good perks...so far, so good. I've handled enough fine art in my time, and fixed and repaired a lot of it too, so as soon as I really get the ropes down on some more technical things, we should be doing really good.
Today flew by...Keith had a doctor's appt in the morning, which stretched into the afternoon, and then we had to go food shopping and get home and straightened up because Ariane was coming over. She had contacted me a while back about teaming up for some Gothic Belly Dance stuff, and we have a fair amount of stuff in common, so I said, come on down! As with nearly all folks who have resided in California for a certain period of time, she had a specific diet (that, and she's a model), so Keith cooked up some great teriyaki salmon and shrimp and veggies for them especially, and I made some crepes (not quite as successful, sadly, maybe the second time around, they'll be better..) She seems very cool, and again, I think we have a good amount of things/ideas in common, so we'll get together next week to see how we gel dancing :) Up until now, I really haven't met anyone who particularly shares certain ideas and thoughts when it comes to dance and music AND is a good visual match...and when I get haired up and glasses off, we do look pretty similar. (BTW, can anyone recommend a decent place to get a good deal on contacts? will need an eye exam, not sure where to go for a whole package good price....and I'd like to do this in the next couple of weeks).
Sunday's performance went very well I think. Will get some pix, and maybe a clip of it too up on the site, got great feedback, and another interested photographer, this one in Sausalito...will be great to get some action pix, with some gothic hair and costuming. The funny thing was I ended up doing a Turkish Drop at the end....now usually, I do a Turkish flop, which entitles dropping down to my knees and folding forward towards the audience. Somehow I decided to go down with my back facing the audience, and pulled backward toward them (head first)...and you could audibly hear something hit the floor, but I'm still not sure WHAT made the sound LOL because nothing hurt! (no silly, not my head....I actually held my upper body aloft and then collapsed back). Two days later I'm feeling some bruising on my knees, but I do so much, it's hard to attribute that to the drop. Who knows? But it's good to know I can actually do it (especially if I'm not overthinking...and then I WILL hit my head!).
So that's that in a nutshell :)
