owlkeymelast weekend rocked! I'm still trying to adjust to the weather, time difference, and three crazy days, but I just wanted to check in and say wow...what a weekend! The Hipnosis girls are just a super bunch of ladies, the Belly Jam was a great event that would make most regular CA haflas pale in comparison----because they have to WORK (and they WANT to) to create community---and it really shows. Yeah, we're Belly Dance Central, but we take it all for granted. These folks really seem to know how to appreciate their events. What was the last hafla you attended where there was about a dozen varied performances, watched by a solid, stacked crowd all night (no one seemed to dance and dart), with plenty of food and alcohol, followed by a few more hours of open dancing and drumming into the wee hours? Oh yeah, vendors too. $5 admission. It was great.
And so many folks happily came up and introduced themselves from tribe, LJ, and beyond!
Then the workshop, with a pre-class shopping frenzy, and a packed room of 30 eager ladies from a wide variety of dance backgrounds/experience. And minus the two issues of 1 : feeling that we ran out of time, because there was still sooo much more to share! and 2 : stepping on a freakin' yellow jacket (welcome home) about 30 minutes into class and silently waiting for the pain to subside and hoping I wasnt going to have a reaction, b/c it's been years since I've been stung. Of course it was on the bottom of one of my toes :P Disaster overted. And why did I put my sandals on? LOL. Such a great group of ladies...I didn't realize how much I missed similar folk until I looked out over that group of mainly brown haired, brown eyed, dark-browed women...my genes said "we are not alone!" And my RI gals in the bunch!!! Lastly, the feedback following this event has been simply incredible! I need to make notes for my website about it all!
And I'm looking forward to seeing a few of the gals from the event this weekend down the shore. (aw shucks, people want to spend time with me! must be making up for years of being a social outkast LOL).
But I miss my honey and kitty very much...that would be the only thing that would have made it really great...there's definitely some folks I could see Keith gel'ing with. Something to think about for further down the road...

And the BAT at the Jam!!! That was adorable and reminded me of the bat brought back in Katie's drum at the ol'abode in providence.
Your belts are beautiful in person, i cannae wait to buy one of me own...if you get any cobalt (like very striking blue) fabric let me know... =)
