So....where did we leave off? That's right....fat cats, yarn, and my little ponies....I'll get around to commenting on comments soon, really :)
So this weekend was eventful, but not. The home show went ok---sales were slow, but the company was great, and Miranda and her partner has done a really amazing job on the house they bought just a year again. It's an old Victorian in downtown San Jose that was pretty much trashed when they bought it. Now, it's beautiful...oh so lovely. Mmm....house...
Then had to rush back up here to meet up with Khris, cause I got volunteered a few months ago to host a BAPA/Gaia's Gateway ritual. There's a slight technical issue with this---they want us to do a Modern Tradition ritual, but there's only 2 of us out here, and well, our rituals are personal---duh, it's a family tradition. So I babbled on for a bit about what we do and how it's different, and I managed to devise a ritual that would work for the premises----honoring the Fates mixed with partaking of a pomegranate and some oracular stuff. Can't say it was my best ritual ever, but what really baffles me is that these people supposedly attend this ritual every month to learn/celebrate/whatever, and most of them weren't even really "there" --nothing sucks more than trying to pull the energy of a ritual together and keep it flowing when you have a large percentage of wet blankets. Not everyone, no, but I'd say 65%, out of about 20 people, that just ain't cool. I mean, why are you there? Why go if you're not going to actively participate? And then, after it's all done, this one guy comes up to tell me that "most people close/open (whatever term you use) the circle after they're done cause like sometimes it can make a space totally unworkable if it's not done" and I'm just looking at him as if he's got 6 heads. I just can't believe he's saying this to me. I raised one Spockish brow and replied, remember this part when we did that? He nods. Yeah, that was it. The funny thing was Achilles and Basalt were there, looking at him the same way. I hope he felt like a schmuck. Did I not explain that we're not Wiccan, and that we don't have ceremonial magic? (I did). We don't order the Elementals around like they're a bunch of imaginary servants. They're welcomed and at the end, they're thanked, either by the Focus and/or those who welcomed them. He must have been wetting his pants thinking "oh my gawd! what is this crazy girl doing???" Sorry bud, we don't all do it your way, and wasn't that the whole purpose of the evening, to learn about how other people do it?
Geez. I mean, overall, it wasn't bad. It was decent, and if there was more of us there, and more people who could show some life, it would have helped...but it still was extremely effective and did it's job, I suppose.
