So a few weeks ago, while at Safeway, Keith discovers "Homemade Cookies for Dummies." It looks just like one of those infamous books, only it's a bag of mix and chips. I scoff, but in the end, the idea of inexpensive and quick fresh warm chocolate chip cookies wins over and we get some.

Tonight there was a warm cookie craving, so I did out the bag. In my haste to get the cookie process started, I dump the bag contents into a bowl and then the egg and butter. Then read you're supposed to do the opposite. So it takes a while to mix. Then comes the teaspoon process, and we have a very small tray cause all we have is a convection oven that's a glorified toaster oven...which sits directly over the ancient microwave. And so a box of "two dozen cookies" makes a fat dozen in order to fit....and damn, that was some good bowl and spoon licking. They spread and rise a bit, but not into each other, and I didn't burn them. So I just had a warm cookie. Nothing to write home about...but that was some damn good cookie dough batter.

Nothing beats my mom's baking...especially her cookie dough...especially-specially the batter for her chocolate chip cake...and the dough for sugar cookies...

Mmmm...
