Whew....well, yeap, Happy Beltaine y'all ; )

It's also my Dad's birthday...and I tried calling them several times, since there's fine line between dinner and sleep there, not to mention the 3 hour time difference. Well, I was calling from work, not getting anyone, and apparently one time, my phone didn't hang up...so when I finally got through, my Dad says, so there was this weird message on the machine, people talking about mats... heh, whoops. So now my hip is making phone calls, which is almost as bad as Sarah's (reginleif) purse, which used to call us a lot!

Talk to Mary about a whole lotta stuff and feel much better...she's such a mom to us all, a mom away from mom :) She's very cool :)

Tomorrow I'm working the rare Sunday (it seems by myself, cool), and then we have a gig, the Magic Camel Fashion Show...so I have to remember to bring non-framer grunge clothes ;)

So in the midst of readings yesterday, I was able to voice a concept that makes a lot of sense to me and I don't think I've really put together in a satisfactory way until now. Beltaine is opposite Samhain on the Wheel of the Year. As we know, Samhain is considered to be the day when the veils between this world and the next are the thinnest, if not lifted all together (depending on your tradition)...it's about the deceased, the lost, the ancestors, etc. We've always said (in modtrad) that Beltaine is also a day where the veils are thin, but it never really struck me until yesterday in what way and how. Samhain is about endings, about history, death, composting, etc...it's to the next world....but Beltaine is about creating, fertility, beginnings, growing...so perhaps the veil that is lifted is the one to opposite world (or a different section if you will), which allows new spirits, reborn souls, etc, to enter through and merge with that creative process. Here, we honor life and the future, not death and the past. It's about that sacred merger of flesh and spirit.

Ok, I wanted to do this in one neat, tidy place...so I ask y'all for your opinion:

Which costume should I wear for the competition?

-the 2004 Rakkasah velvet and cobalt blue corset set, as seen here

OR

-the 2003 rakkasah massacred peacook, as seen here

OR

-put together the shiny purply-wine snakeskin vinyl costume, which would similar to the first choice in design, just shiny warm-tone vinyl, and matching tassels, with a slightly different bra design...also means I have 4 days to make it. heh.
