something's up
Mar. 4th, 2004 10:51 pmI've noticed quite a few postings on my friends list concerning death/sudden illness/disappearences. It's all been centered around the past week.
At work, one of my co-workers' had just found out the previous week that her father-in-law had cancer...he died on Saturday evening...I knew she left work in a tizzy on Saturday afternoon, so I hope she made it in time to be with her husband and family. On Monday I found out that my boss's mother had a bad fall over the weekend, so she flew to Utah to see how things were, and when they did scans, they found large masses of cancer throughout her body. My other co-worker has a sister undergoing severe unexpected surgery.
It was on Monday that I noticed those funny little flurries of flies...you know the kind, you've seen them....they make no sound, almost seem not there, and just fly in a mass without any reason or apparent attraction. Maybe I'm superstitious, but I tend to perceive them as a bad omen, and seeing them around the work area, where there's nothing to attract them, was unsettling.
And just now, I found out that Serge Clapa has died---he was the dedicated, devoted individual behind http://www.esotericarts.com --no details yet on how/why/when---those on his list knew he was fighting depression, but it's still quite a shock. He was so enthusiastic about the arts, and struggling so hard to make a good site for everyone. He will be sorely missed.
