Last night...
Dec. 21st, 2003 02:10 pmThe Inky Dinky Belly Dancer Went Up the Water Spout...Down Came The Rain And Washed the Dancer Out...
Heh...it felt like that....it was raining very very hard as we headed down to San Jose, and continued to downpour as we ran around the block to the club. Luckily, they were running 15 minutes behind schedule, so I had some time to get warmed up and try to dry my skirts...then the girl ahead of me cut her set short, and it was the race to attach my veil properly over my head and light the lotuses. And then 14 minutes went by very quickly....
The crowd was definitely not a goth crowd, but it looked and sounded like everything was well received (and that's specifically what Wil wanted, "gothic belly dance")...the performance space wasn't the best, as it was a long narrow but trendy club, and the biggest open space was between the bar and the bathroom, which meant folks that had imbibed too much didn't care if they walked through/around during any of the performances. :P The lighting was hard on the camera, so the video is only good for personal reference, but the PAC guys took a lot of pix, so hopefully they'll some posted soon.
In the meantime, here's a few after-performance pix Keith took of me with the digital:
whole shot
close up
I'll be scraping glitter off me for days...
And thanks so much to jezebeltw and Paloma for coming out!!! *HUGS!*
