Where did the week go?
Apr. 25th, 2003 12:30 amSo it's Thursday evening now....err...make that 15 minutes into Friday, and our arses are running steadily into Mercury Retrograde!! (ahhhhhhh!)
We battled the dust bunnies today....and won (for now...)...hoping to win the battle against the spiders too....mold...well, I'd love to bitchslap the mold.
We've got a harrowing month planned, after the relatively show-free month of April (though somehow April seemed more insane...could be that Aries thing..) It starts off with the Aisha Ali Workshop & Hafla....we're vending, and then I've been invited to dance in the line-up.....and I have 15 minutes of dancing. This, if you're unfamiliar with the general line-up of haflas and bellydance events, is a heck of a lot of time-----it's about average if one was the only performer at a restaurant, or maybe one of two dancers....the average I've done for performances this past year is about 7 minutes, so this will be interesting. Need to figure out music and costume.
I could have been dancing on May 10th at a nightclub up in San Francisco, but the time schedule seemed to run from like 11pm (start) to 5 am....and, that sounds like "yeap, we get started around 2 am." I'm asleep at 2 am. Yes, I may be nearly 25, but I really like sleep. No, I mean, I really like sleep. And I'm not geared up right now to do the club scene. And yes, the earliest I have to get up is 9 am, ONE day of the week....but I really like my sleep. So until we live closer to where the clubs are, and I start being a bit more of nightowl, then I'll have to pass on those gigs I suppose. That, and a whole bunch of people possibly on altered substances doesn't float my boat....it's actually very upsetting psychic-ly, which may sound like a load of crap, but then again, you ain't me, and probably don't get extremely agitated just by going to malls.
Then, there's what is probably going to be the coolest festival of the year to date, Tribal Fest III, on May 17th and 18th. Khris and I discussed whether or not it was still a good idea to do a solo---I didn't want to stress her out, especially since it was my zealous mouth that got her into it in the first place, so now I'm doing a solo, and we're postponing the Rusalka debut until the MECDA Hafla on the 31st.....so now I'm making a new costume to go with the Assuit skirt, and the new dreads I hope to have by then, and I aint' saying nothing about the music, cause it's a surrrrrrrprise!!!! *muahahahahahahahhaa!* (Jessie, how are your hairpieces coming along?)
And the list goes on....so I have 22 minutes of dancing, and one new tribaret bra and hipwrap and additional stuff to make....then again, I thrive on the creative throws of anxiety. (throes?)
