one week to full moon..
Apr. 9th, 2003 11:30 amYesterday was incredibly productive (more or less). We had Tim (http://www.timrayborn.com) down here for an audio/video interview, photoshoot, and other tidbits for the next issue of Crescent (http://www.crescentmagazine.com), then we had dinner at Best Bite (yummmmy Persian food....mmm..hummus), and then Khris and I went to Azar's class.
Khris really seemed to like class this time around..She's far more used to Tribal classes, so the cabaret stuff can be a bit hard to gel with...though the same thing is true for me coming the other way around too....as much as I love the look and visual feel of Tribal, it doesn't seem to mesh totally with my mind/body like more the cabaret stuff does. (Doesn't help that I'm incredibly solo-oriented, unless it means working in a specialized duet, like with Khris...we feed off of each other very well, must be because we share the same half o brain..) Azar went over structure, particularly working the floor geometrically, which Khris said she really liked.
I discussed with Azar the apparent opportunity I was offered, and she gave me some good advice (as always), and also talked about my style (and about not letting people change it)...apparently her and someone else were discussing me at once point, trying to pin down a description of how I dance, and Azar came up with a 4-5 word description that I now can't remember...but it included something like "tribalesque" and "drum circle." Interesting....
Tonight's class is "Spell Construction & Ingredients." Now we get to talk about all the stuff I've been teasing my students with now for the last few weeks ;) (darn!) I've run out of class flyers and I'm debating getting more. After tonight, there are 3 more classes total in the series, including the Beltaine ritual on the 30th)...suppose I should. Soon I have to think about NEXT month... oye
